~ Another Fun Musical Blast ~
This is a Peanuts Medley that Jon Schmidt arranged for Piano, along with Steven Sharp Nelson on the Cello. We thought it would be fun to do an inpromto concert for our favorite audience, and it was a blast. We hope you enjoy it in the spirit in which it is given. We had a blast and met some incredible people at Stirling Court in St. George, Utah.

~ The General And Children ~ By Yu Pyol Mi ~ Piano
Yu Pyol Mi learned how to play the piano at the Taedongmun Kindergarten in Pyongyang. She had an unusually good ear and became a kindergartner at the age of four. She was absorbed in learning the piano from the teacher Kim Yong Mi, a fresh, honour graduate of Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory. Under her guidance Yu Pyol Mi stepped in the beautiful and fascinating world of music. Her extraordinary understanding and artistic sensibility surprised Kim Yong Mi and other teachers as time went on. She caught 13 and 15 accords, memorized musical scores quickly and mastered musical scores of difficult piano tunes when she performed the piano two or three times. She created more than 20 piano tunes in her kindergarten days. Yu Pyol Mi was moved to the Kyongsang Kindergarten affiliated to Pyongyang Music School.

Abigail Johnson was shocked to hear her name called for the Most Promising Youth Award. “My heart started beating like crazy,” said the Grade 12 Bear Creek student. “It’s unbelievable.” Among her accomplishments, Johnson has completed her RC Grade 10 Piano examination with a First Class Honours mark of 88 per cent. Bridges moved to Barrie in 1981, but he continues to play a number of shows in Toronto each year.
The final award of the night, Contribution to the Community, went to Carla Tucker. Tucker has been teaching dance in Barrie for more than 30 years and is the owner and founder to Moving Art, a performance art and education centre. She has also worked with the Kempenfelt Community Players, Theatre by the Bay and choreographed a number of musicals, all while working as a teacher with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board.
The evening also included live performances from magician Gerry Frenette, Kreative Urban Tribe Performing Arts Centre, musician Brittney Fulton, singer Leigh-Anne Martin accompanied by Johnson, pianist Tabitha Johnson and a poem by Barrie Poet Laureate Bruce Meyer.
