Do You Know Someone Worthy of an Arts Award?
Barrie’s best will be recognized once again at the upcoming annual Barrie Arts Awards. Nominations are now open, and the City of Barrie is encouraging you to nominate that special artist from the community who deserves this recognition.
There are four categories for artists and one for businesses to be nominated in. New this year is the Business Award which recognizes a local business that has consistently and significantly supported the arts through either financial and/or in-kind means. This award may be granted to a business that has made a concerted effort to build capacity in the arts.
Nominees can be recognized for contributions in one of five areas:
• Excellence in the Arts
• Contribution to the Community
• Emerging Artist
• Most Promising Youth
• Business Award
More information on each of these categories as well as downloadable nomination forms can be found atwww.barrie.ca . Nominations will close on October 28, 2011 so please consider nominating a deserving artist in your community by the cut-off date.
The gala evening will be held on Tuesday November 29th at the new Mady Centre for the Performing Arts at #1 Dunlop Street West.
